Mari

Drawn particularly to the liminal landscapes of coast, saltmarsh and moorland, Mari creates expressive and evocative artworks in acrylics and mixed media, that capture her experience of place and the effects of light and weather.

The way Mari builds up her pieces - layering and wiping back media, exposing underlying passages and employing lively mark making - result in a rich surface history.

Location sketching is combined with her intuition and experience of the subject, which, back in the studio, results in work that stands alone but still owes a debt to the landscape and her response to it.
